Patriots G Shaq Mason Reportedly Breaks Hand, Timetable Unknown

Jim McBride reports that Patriots’ second-year G Shaq Mason suffered a broken hand and his timetable of recovery remains uncertain at this time.

It is worth mentioning that the Patriots removed Mason from their physically unable to perform list just a few weeks ago, but it is unclear if this injury will keep him out for an extended period.

Mason, 22, was selected in the fourth round by the Patriots in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the second-year of his four-year $2.7 million rookie contract that contained $443,524 guaranteed. He stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for 2016 and another $615,000 in 2017.

In 2015, Mason appeared in 14 games for the Patriots and Pro Football Focus rated him as the No. 42 overall guard out of 81 qualifying players.
