Patriots Notes: Kenny Britt, Jordan Matthews, Phillip Dorsett

Kenny Britt

  • Jeff Howe reports that free agent WR Kenny Britt, who was released from the Patriots on Wednesday, received an extension offer from New England earlier this offseason.
  • Howe adds that Britt is nearing a full recovery from a torn hamstring injury and is expected to sign with a new team “in the near future.”

Jordan Matthews

  • According to Michael Giardi, it’s possible that the Patriots could consider bringing back WR Jordan Matthews in October.
  • The Patriots released Matthews with an injury settlement, which prevents them from re-signing him until later on in the year.

Phillip Dorsett

Patriots WR Phillip Dorsett explained that he’s more comfortable in the team’s offense this year and is ready for a larger role.

“I think my comfort level has gotten a lot better,” Dorsett said, via the ProvidenceJournal.com. “But you can’t get complacent in this offense. Everything changes. There’s a lot thrown at you, and they expect the best from you. So if you don’t bring your best out there, something bad is going to happen.”

Dorsett added that not having training camp to work with Tom Brady last year made it difficult to get up to speed.

That just comes with, I would say, me missing the spring, missing camp,” Dorsett said. “You’ve just got to know your quarterback and we didn’t really get to build any chemistry during camp because I didn’t have a camp with [Brady]. So I guess that’s where that came from.”
