Patriots Placing RB Sony Michel On IR, Activating RB Damien Harris & WR Gunner Olszewski

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Patriots are placing RB Sony Michel on injured reserve and activating RB Damien Harris from injured reserve for Monday’s game against the Chiefs.

The Patriots also activated WR Gunner Olszewski from injured reserve and placed Cody Davis on the list.

New England promoted WR Isaiah Zuber to their active roster.

It’s worth mentioning that the NFL changed the rules regarding injured reserve for the 2020 season and players can return from the list in just three weeks.

In 2019, Harris appeared in two games for the Patriots and rushed for 12 yards on four carries (3 YPC) and no touchdowns.

During his college career at Alabama, Harris recorded 477 rush attempts for 3,070 yards (6.4 YPC) and 23 touchdowns to go along with 52 receptions for 407 yards receiving (7.8 YPC) and two touchdowns.

Michel, 25, was taken with the No. 31 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Patriots. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $9,626,694 contract that includes a $5,081,232 signing bonus.

The contract includes a fifth-year option for the Patriots to pick up in 2021.
