Patriots Sign LB Tony Steward & LS Christian Yount

The New England Patriots officially signed LB Tony Steward and LS Christian Yount on Friday.

Steward, 23, was taken in the sixth round of last year’s NFL draft by the Bills. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but he was placed on waivers earlier in the week.

Steward was in the second year of his four-year, $2,403,828 rookie contract at the time of his release.

In 2015, Steward appeared in seven games for the Bills and recorded two tackles. Buffalo later placed Steward on season-ending injured reserve with a back injury.

Yount, 27, originally signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA back in 2011. He spent just a few months in Tampa Bay before he was waived midseason and later signed by the Browns.

Cleveland eventually signed him to a five-year deal in 2013 only to cut him loose a few weeks after last year’s draft.

In 2014, Young appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded four tackles on special teams.
