Patriots TE Michael Williams Reverts To I.R. After Clearing Waivers

The Patriots officially placed TE Michael Williams on their injured reserve list Monday after he cleared waivers.

This was the expectation all along, as it was unlikely that a team was going to place a waiver claim for him after he unfortunately sustained a torn ACL last week.

Williams, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Lions back in 2013. After two years in Detroit, the Lions traded him to the Patriots at the start of the 2015 season for a future seventh-round pick.

Williams is in the final year of his contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Williams appeared in 15 games and recorded three receptions for 26 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
