Patriots TE Michael Williams Suffers Torn ACL, Likely Headed To I.R.

Jim McBride, citing a team source, reports that the Patriots TE Michael Williams suffered a torn ACL at Wednesday’s practice and will likely be placed on the injured reserve list.

Williams, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Lions back in 2013. After two years in Detroit, the Lions traded him to the Patriots at the start of the 2015 season for a future seventh-round pick.

Williams is in the final year of his contract and stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season.

In 2015, Williams appeared in 15 games and recorded three receptions for 26 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
