Patriots Tried Out QB Landry Jones, CB David Amerson & WR Dontrelle Inman

Mike Reiss of ESPN reports that the Patriots worked out QB Landry Jones, CB David Amerson and WR Dontrelle Inman on Monday.

Jones, 28, is a former fourth-round pick by the Steelers in the 2013 NFL Draft. He finished out the final year of his four-year rookie contract and returned to Pittsburgh on a two-year contract last offseason.

However, the Steelers elected to release Jones coming out of the preseason and they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

In 2017, Jones appeared in three games for the Steelers and recorded 23 completions on 28 attempts (82.1 percent) for 239 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Amerson, 26, is a former second-round pick of the Redskins back in 2013. Washington waived him during the 2015 season and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Redskins.

Amerson signed four-year, $38 million extension with close to $18 million guaranteed with the Raiders back in 2016. However, he was released last year and later caught on with the Chiefs.

Kansas City signed Amerson to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million during the offseason, but wound up being released coming out of the preseason.

In 2017, Amerson appeared in six games for the Raiders and recorded 18 tackles, no interceptions, a fumble recovery and four pass defenses.
