Hoyer, 33, originally signed on with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Michigan State back in 2009. He spent three years in New England before bouncing around with a number of teams including the Steelers, Cardinals, Browns, Texans and Bears.
Hoyer signed a two-year, $12 million contract that included $10 million guaranteed with the 49ers in March of 2017. He was set to make base salaries of $2.95 million and $3.95 million when San Francisco recently released him.
The Patriots signed him to a three-year deal shortly after being cut by San Francisco. He was entering the final year of his contract and set to earn a base salary of $1.5 million this season.
In 2018, Hoyer was active for five games for the Patriots and recorded one completion on two pass attempts for seven yards.
Beck, 23 was a priority free-agent signing for New England out of Texas after the draft. He received $100,000 in guarantees but won’t make the final roster as a rookie.
