Philadelphia The Aggressor in WR DeSean Jackson Trade Talks?

A league source told the Charlotte Observer that it was the Eagles who reached out to Carolina “in order to gauge their interest” in a possible trade for WR DeSean Jackson.

Reports have been circulating all week describing Carolina as the aggressor, but it appears that Philadelphia may actively be shopping Jackson, or at least, trying to assess his value.

It is no secret that Carolina needs help at the wide receiver position, even with the recent signing of WR Jerricho Cotchery and the imminent signing of WR Tiquan Underwood.  Jackson would be a perfect replacement for WR Steve Smith, who is now in Baltimore.

The question is whether Carolina could take on Jackson’s contract.  According to overthecap.com, the Panthers have roughly $5.7 million in available cap space, not counting the Underwood deal.  Jackson is owed $10.5 million next season.
