Rams C Brian Allen First Active NFL Player To Test Positive For COVID-19

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Rams C Brian Allen is the first active player to test positive for COVID-19.

Allen tells Glazer that he tested positive for COVID-19 three weeks ago and then again early last week.

Allen reportedly lost all ability to smell and taste and wasn’t able to an ammonia smelling-salt. The good news is that Allen is finally symptom-free and expects to receive an “all clear” this week.

According to Glazer, the Rams had to close their facility weeks ago to injured players, but they are able to re-open next week.

Allen, 24, is a former fourth-round pick of the Rams back in 2018. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $3.1 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $750,000 for the 2020 season.

In 2019, Allen appeared in nine games for the Rams and started all nine before being placed on injured reserve. Pro Football Focus has Allen rated as the No. 28 center out of 37 qualifying players.
