Randy Gregory To Apply For Reinstatement, Cowboys Prepared To Welcome Him Back

David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports that suspended DE Randy Gregory is preparing to file for reinstatement to the NFL.

According to Moore, the Cowboys are expected to give Gregory yet another chance to turn things around.

The new CBA agreement made drastic adjustments to the marijuana use and Moore says it’s hard to see a scenario where commissioner Roger Goodell keeps Gregory’s current suspension in place.

Moore says there’s amnesty exists for Gregory within the Cowboys or any suspended player such as DL David Irving, who is also on the suspended list.

Gregory has been suspended four times since he was drafted back in 2015. The latest came in February of last year, which resulted in an indefinite ban from the NFL for violating the terms of his conditional reinstatement.

Moore mentions that Gregory was actually set to apply for reinstatement last year during training camp, but he had another slip-up and his change in representation halted those plans.

Gregory, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2015. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $3.814 million contract that includes $1.404 million guaranteed and stood to make a base salary of $955,217 for the 2019 season when the Cowboys signed him to a one-year extension in April of last year that will run through the 2020 season.

Gregory was later placed on the suspended list at the start of the 2019 season.

For his career, has appeared in 28 games for the Cowboys and recorded seven sacks, two forced fumbles and a recovery.
