Ravens A “Dark Horse” Team For Free Agent CB Brandon Flowers?

According to Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, “don’t count out the Baltimore Ravens” as a potential suitor for recently released CB Brandon Flowers.

Hensley mentions that the Ravens are actually more in need of a third cornerback than a right tackle or safety and the team never found a replacement for Corey Graham this offseason.

Baltimore currently has Chykie Brown and Asa Jackson competing for the job, but there are some question marks as to whether or not they will be able to step in and solidify spot this season.

Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome has gone after a number of veteran players who have been released in recent years including DE/OLB Elvis Dumervil and WR Steve Smith.

Hensley does point out that free agent CB Chris Houston will not be an option for the Ravens.

As things stand right now, the Falcons and Texans appear to be the consensus favorite to sign Flowers. Other teams connected to Flowers include: the 49ers, Browns, Redskins, Steelers and Titans.

Flowers, 28, is coming off of a down season, but Trotter mentions that he expressed a desire to leave Kansas City last season after he was forced to play in the slot.

He has already put together a number of quality seasons in the NFL and should have plenty to offer a new team in the coming years.

Last year, Flowers appeared in 13 games and totaled 68 tackles, one sack, an interceptions and seven pass defenses for the Chiefs.

We have Flowers listed as the No. 1 player in our recently updated Top 50 – Best Available Free Agents list.
