Ravens CB Tavon Young Could Be Out For Season With Neck Injury

Ravens HC John Harbaugh told reporters following Thursday’s preseason game that CB Tavon Young as a serious neck injury that could cost him the entire 2019 season, per Jeff Zrebiec

“Tavon has a more serious issue than we thought,” Harbaugh said. “He has a neck issue. The docs can explain it but it’s a disc issue so that’s a serious injury. He could be out for the remainder of the season. We’ll know soon but it doesn’t look good for Tavon.”

Young was injured in practice last weekend and is dealing with a disc issue in his neck.

According to Harbaugh, the Ravens are recommending surgery for Young, but the good news is that this is not considered to be a career-threatening issue, per Zrebiec.

Young, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Ravens back in 2016. He was entering the final of his four-year, $2.945 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $720,000 for the 2019 season when the Ravens signed him to an extension back in February.

Young agreed to a three-year, $25.8 million extension, which can be worth up to $29 million.

In 2018, Young appeared in 15 games for the Ravens and recorded 37 tackles, two sacks, an interception, two fumble recoveries returned for touchdowns and five pass defenses.

We’ll have more regarding Young as the news is available.
