Report: Bears Signing WRs Armanti Edwards & Michael Spurlock

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Bears are signing receivers Armanti Edwards and Michael Spurlock to contracts on Tuesday.

This news comes less than a week after Domenik Hixon unfortunately suffered another ACL tear and is expected to retire from the NFL.

Second-year WR Marquess Wilson has been working as the team’s primary No. 3 receiver during OTAs, but there is some question regarding their depth behind him. Chicago currently has Josh MorganEric Weems, Terrence Toliver, Josh Bellamy and Chris Williams in camp as well.

Edwards, 26, was a third-round pick of the Panthers back in 2010. He lasted three years in Carolina before being waived during the 2013 season. He later signed on with the Browns and finished the year with jut a single reception for 10 yards over the course of six games.

Spurlock, 31, joins his fourth team in as many years. Last year, while playing for the Lions, he didn’t register a single reception, but did contribute on special teams as a kick and punt returner.
