Report: Eagles Sign OLB Connor Barwin

Tania Ganguli reports that the “deal is done.” The Eagles sign former Texans OLB Connor Barwin.

  • Jason La Canfora reports that Barwin will receive a six-year deal worth $36 million that could max out at $40 million with guarantees.
  • Adam Caplan has confirmed that Barwin will receive $8 million guaranteed.

The early numbers looked to be very high, but the fact that he’s only guaranteed makes this seem like a more reasonable contract. It’s doubtful that he’ll ever receive all $40 million included in this deal.

Philadelphia has already signed a whole new secondary, but haven’t managed to add another pass rushing linebacker for their new 3-4 defense. They’ve reportedly been close to reaching a deal with Barwin for a day or so, but Victor Butler has also been linked to Philadelphia.

We have him listed as the No. 40 player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
