Update:

Kent Somers reports that free agent DE Brett Keisel declined the Cardinals visit invite because he didn’t want to leave his family.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the Cardinals are “very unlikely” to sign free agent DE Brett Keisel despite the fact that he took a physical for them on Tuesday and their need for defensive line help following the injury to Darnell Dockett.

Kent Somers reports that free agent DE Brett Keisel is flying to Arizona Tuesday to take a physical for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals unfortunately lost DE Darnell Dockett for the season after he sustained a torn ACL during Monday’s practice, so they could use some defensive line help as they head into the 2014 season.

Keisel is without a doubt one of the best available defensive ends for a 3-4 base defense. The Steelers have said that they haven’t closed the door on possibly bringing Keisel back, but there hasn’t been much movement towards a reunion in recent weeks.

Keisel, 35, has spent all of his 11 years of his NFL career with the Steelers. In 2013, Keisel accumulated four sacks and 29 tackles over the course of 12 games.

Pro Football Focus has Keisel rated as the No. 31 overall defensive end in a 3-4 system last year, but also an above-average run-defender, which could allow him to see snaps in early downs.
