Report: Rams Will Release WR Titus Young

Head coach Jeff Fisher has confirmed that the news that WR Titus Young will be waived today, per Albert Breer.

We felt Titus is better suited for another organization,” Fisher said, via Pro Football Talk. “We felt like by claiming Titus we would have the opportunity to spend a good deal of time with him. We spent that time with him, we spent probably four or five days with him, and as an organization, at the end of the interview process, you might call it, we felt it was best to go in another direction.”

Jim Thomas of the St Louis Post Dispatch reports that league sources have confirmed that the Rams will release WR Titus Young after being on their roster for only nine days.

Thomas adds that Young met with met with the Rams’ coaching staff and officials this week, but he ultimately wasn’t able to convince them to keep him around long enough to pay him the $185,000 roster bonus he had coming his way at the start of training camp.

Tony Softli tweets that Fisher will address why Young was released later today. Softli adds that league sources have informed him that Young may have failed a physical due to “knee issues.”

At this point in time, you have to wonder if Young will ever play in the league again.

According to Pro Football Talk the St Louis Rams have declined to comment on rumors that they’re prepared to part ways with recently claimed WR Titus Young.

Rams HC Jeff Fisher is scheduled to appear at a press conference later today, so there’s a good chance that he’ll be fielding questions regarding Young.

We’ll have more as the new becomes available.
