Report: Redskins Starting Robert Griffin III In Week 9

Dianna Marie Russini of NBC Washington, citing multiple sources with the Redskins organization, reports that Robert Griffin III will start Week 9’s game against the Vikings.

  • Multiple reports have confirmed that RGIII will play this weekend.
  • A Redskins source tells Russini that “Colt McCoy was told today he will be the backup.

RGIII was able to put in a full practice on Wednesday, which was clearly a good sign for his status this weekend.

Head coach Jay Gruden mentioned that RGIII’s available Sunday would depend on “how he does in practice tomorrow and Friday,” but it appears as though the team is confident enough in what they saw from him on Wednesday to go ahead and make the change at quarterback.

Washington has been without Griffin for the past six weeks. During this stretch the team has 2-4 record, but Colt McCoy was able to lead them to victories in each of the last two weeks.
