Report: Seahawks Releasing QB Terrelle Pryor, Rams An Option?

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that the Seahawks are cutting QB Terrelle Pryor as they work to get down to 53 players.

Florio mentions that the Rams could be a team to watch in regards to Pryor as they could use some more depth at quarterback.

There’s no guarantee that Pryor would be available to St. Louis given that he’s subject to waivers and other teams like the Bills are reportedly looking for quarterback help as well.

Seattle acquired Pryor from the Raiders in return for a seventh-round selection back in April.

Pryor, 24, has one year remaining on his rookie and is set to make $705,000 for the 2014 season.

Last year, Pryor appeared in 11 games and completed 57.4 percent of his passes for 1,798 yards, seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

  1. Good that someone chose the word “depth.” As a #3 somewhere, TP’s a possibility, but I don’t see him and his 2nd-level run-style (v. Kaep / early Vick) as a starter anywhere just now, even with some unsettled teams.

Why Florio would be quick to place Pryor at this point, given the un-signed QBs out there, rookie and experienced, is perplexing. As we’re seeing this summer, the 7th-Rd value (“Seattle” trade) isn’t exactly resume-enhancing (See: M. Sam, 8/30).

  2. Will never happen; Pryor isn’t the type of QB Jeff Fisher would go for. Pryor should have stayed his A$$ in college, he was clearly not ready for the NFL, probably never will be.
