Ike Taylor Reworks Deal With Steelers

Update:

Contract Details

  • Jason La Canfora reports that Ike Taylor’s new contract with the Steelers is a one-year deal worth $2.75 million.
  • La Canfora adds that Taylor would have been released had he not agreed to the pay cut.

Taylor, 33, was set to make $7 million in 2014 and carries a cap figure of $11.9 million. The Steelers could have freed up $7 million in cap space by releasing him outright.

Taylor was rated as the No. 97 cornerback out of out of 110 qualifying players in the league last season, according Pro Football Focus.

Jason La Canfora reports that the Steelers are “working to see” if veteran CB Ike Taylor will accept a pay cut to be back in Pittsburgh next season.

Reports have indicated for months now that Taylor could be a cap casualty this offseason and the team just informed OLB LaMarr Woodley that he won’t be back next year.
