Saints’ Contract With OL Nick Easton Disapproved

Update:

Chris Tomasson reports that there was a “minor” contract situation involving Nick Easton’s contract with the Saints and it has already been corrected.

Tomasson adds that everything is in order for Easton to still join the Saints.

According to Ian Rapoport, the NFL disapproved of the Saints’ contract with OL Nick Easton on Wednesday.

This is typically just a minor issue and teams will fix the issue and process the contract the next day.

Reports said that Easton agreed to a four-year, $24 million contract from the Saints earlier in the week.

The Saints really needed to add some interior offensive line help after Max Unger surprisingly retired from the NFL and the expectation is/was that Easton will play center for them.

Easton, 26, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out Harvard back in 2015. He was later traded to the 49ers return for a seventh-round pick.

San Francisco elected to trade Easton to the Vikings for LB Gerald Hodges a few months later. Unfortunately, Easton missed the 2018 season after undergoing surgery to correct a herniated disc in his neck.

In 2017, Easton appeared in 12 games for the Vikings and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 56 guard out of 78 qualifying players.
