Saints Officially Place 1st-Rd Tender On RFA QB Taysom Hill

According to Charles Robinson, the Saints have officially placed a first-round tender on restricted free agent QB Taysom Hill

A first-round tender is projected to cost around $4.6 million for the 2020 season and ensures that they would get a first-round pick should they decline to match an offer sheet from another team.

A week and a half ago, Adam Schefter reported that the Saints were planning to place a first-round tender on Hill.

Schefter also wrote that New Orleans still felt they could get a new contract for Hill prior to the start of free agency, so it seems they were unable to finalize an extension.

Hill, 29, wound up signing on with the Packers as an undrafted free agent out of BYU back in 2017. He was waived and later claimed off of waivers by the Saints.

Hill has played out the final year of his rookie contract and is now in line to be a restricted free agent this offseason.

In 2019, Hill appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and completed 3 of 6 passes for 55 yards while rushing for 156 yards on 27 carries and one touchdown. He also caught 19 passes for 234 yards receiving and six touchdowns.
