Saints Promote RB Dwayne Washington, Waive RB Jonathan Williams

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Saints are promoting RB Dwayne Washington to their active roster on Friday.

Washington, 24, is a former seventh-round pick of the Lions back in 2016. He spent two years in Detroit before being waived as they cut their roster down to 53 players coming out of the preseason.

Washington later signed on to the Saints’ practice squad at the start of the regular season.

In 2017, Washington appeared in five games for the Lions and rushed for 44 yards on 20 carries (2.2 YPC) to go along with two receptions for 14 yards and no touchdowns. He also contributed 31 kick return yards.

Williams, 24, is a former fifth-round pick of the Bills back in 2016. He was in the second year of his four-year, $2.58 million contract when the Bills waived him coming out of the preseason.

Williams had a brief stint on to the Broncos’ practice squad before joining the Saints late last year. New Orleans cut Williams loose coming out of the preseason.

In 2018, Williams has been active for one game and rushed for no yards on three carries to go along with one reception for one yard.
