Saints Waive DL Tavaris Barnes

Nick Underhill of the Advocate reports that the Saints have placed DL Tavaris Barnes on waivers Monday.

Barnes, 24, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of Clemson back in May of last year. He managed to make the 53-man roster during his rookie season.

Barnes is in the second year of his three-year, $1.582 million contract that included a $7,500 signing bonus. He stands to make a base salary of $525,000 for the 2016 season. His contract includes another $615,000 for the 2017 season.

In 2015, Barnes appeared in 12 games for the Saints and recorded five tackles and no sacks.
