Saints Signing Veteran OLB Paul Kruger

Ian Rapport of NFL Media reports that the Saints are signing veteran OLB Paul Kruger to a contract on Wednesday.

Kruger scheduled a visit with the Saints shortly after he was cut by the Browns. Had Kruger not signed with New Orleans, he was expected to travel to Kansas City to meet with the Chiefs.

Kruger, 30, is a former second-round pick of the Ravens back in 2009. He played out his rookie contract with Baltimore before signing on with the Browns as a priority free agent in 2013.

Kruger was in the fourth year of his five-year, $40.5 million contract that included $20 million guaranteed and was set to make a base salary of $6.5 million for the 2016 season when he was cut.

In 2015, Kruger appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded 27 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
