Saints Trying Out RB Tim Hightower & K Younghoe Koo

Nick Underhill reports that the Saints are trying out veteran RB Tim Hightower on Tuesday during their minicamp.

Hightower, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cardinals back in 2008. He spent three years in Arizona before signing on with the Redskins in 2011.

Injuries got the best of Hightower and led to him being out of the league for three years before he signed on with the Saints back in 2015. After a few years in New Orleans, Hightower signed on with the 49ers last year but was among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Hightower appeared in all 16 games for the Saints and rushed for 548 yards on 133 carries (4.1 YPC) to go along with 22 receptions for 200 yards receiving and five total touchdowns. That year, Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 57 running back out of 62 qualifying players.

Koo, 23, wound up signing a three-year, $1.66 million contract with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Southern back in May of last year. He was set to make a base salary of $465,000 for the 2017 season when the Chargers waived him a few weeks into the season and re-signed K Nick Novak.

In 2017, Koo appeared in four games for the Chargers and converted just three of six field goal attempts and all nine extra point tries.
