Steelers Waive RB Chris Rainey

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced that they have waived running back Chris Rainey following his arrest this morning for simple battery, according to Bob Labriola.

“Chris Rainey’s actions this morning were extremely disappointing,” said Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert in a statement released. “Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

It’s worth noting that Rainey was flagged as having character issues coming out of college. The rookie rusher carried the ball 26 times in 2012, racking up 102 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
