Tests Confirm Texans RB Lamar Miller Out For Season With Torn ACL & MCL

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that tests have confirmed that Texans RB Lamar Miller does, in fact, have a torn ACL along with a torn MCL and is out for the season.

You can expect the Texans to place Miller on injured reserve and add someone to their roster in coming days.

Adam Schefter reports that the Texans fear RB Lamar Miller suffered a torn ACL during Saturday’s preseason game.

This would be terrible for Miller and the Texans, as he was clearly their No. 1 running back and entering a contract year.

Houston will clearly be in the market for running back help if further testing confirms that Miller does, in fact, have a torn ACL.

Miller, 28, is a former fourth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2012. He played out his rookie contract with Miami before agreeing to a four-year, $26 million contract that included $14 million guaranteed with the Texans back in 2016.

Miller stands to make a base salary of $5.5 million for the 2019 season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

In 2018, Miller has appeared in 13 games for the Texans and rushed for 917 yards on 193 carries (4.8 YPC) to go along with 23 receptions for 163 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.
