Texans Place WR Braxton Miller On I.R. & Promote WR Wendall Williams

The Houston Texans have placed rookie WR Braxton Miller on injured reserve with a shoulder injury and promoted WR Wendall Williams to their active roster on Tuesday, according to Mark Berman.

Miller, 24, was taken in the third round of this year’s NFL draft by the Texans. He’s currently in the first year of his four-year, $3.114 million contract and stands to make base salaries of $550,866 and $651,732 over the next two years.

In 2016, Miller appeared 10 games for the Texans and caught 15 passes for 99 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Williams, 26, wound up signing on with the Texans as an undrafted free agent out of Cumberlands back in May. He was cut loose as the Texans trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

Williams later caught on with the Jets’ practice squad but was released last week to make room for LB Julian Stanford. The Texans signed him to their practice squad over a month ago.

During the preseason, Williams caught two passes for 16 yards receiving and lost a fumble.
