Texans Promoting QB Alex McGough To Active Roster

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Texans are signing QB Alex McGough to their active roster on Tuesday.

According to Pelissero, this move had been in the works even before Deshaun Watson suffered bruised last night.

Pelissero mentions that the Jaguars were interested in bringing McGough back following the injury to Nick Foles.

McGough, 23, was selected by the Seahawks in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL draft. He signed a four-year, $2,563,692 with Seattle but wound up being among their final roster cuts coming out of the preseason.

The Seahawks later signed McGough to their practice squad after clearing waivers. McGough signed a futures contract with the Jaguars this past January before waiving a few weeks ago.

McGough signed on to the Texans’ practice squad soon after.

During his four-year college career at Florida International, McGough threw for 9,091 yards while completing 60.4 percent of his passes to go along with 65 touchdowns and 37 interceptions over the course of 46 games.
