Titans Re-Sign QB Ryan Tannehill To Four-Year, $118M Deal

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Titans and QB Ryan Tannehill have agreed to terms on an extension.

According to Jeff Darlington, Tannehill receives a new four-year contract worth $118 million that includes $91 million guaranteed and $62 million fully guaranteed. Tannehill will make $29.5 million per year as part of this new deal.

Darlington adds that Tannehill has $17.5 million fully guaranteed in 2020 and $24.5 million fully guaranteed in 2021. There’s $29 million guaranteed for injury at signing in 2020 that will become fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2021 league year. In 2023, Tannehill has a $27.5 million base salary.

This move opens the possibility of franchising RB Derrick Henry, who is in line to be an unrestricted free agent.

Reports from earlier mentioned that the Titans were focused on re-signing Tannehill and were no longer pursuing Tom Brady

Tannehill, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2012. Miami traded Tannehill to the Titans this offseason for draft compensation.

As a part of the trade, Tannehill reworked his contract to a one-year, $1.875 million deal with the potential for more incentives.

In 2019, Tannehill appeared in completed 70.3 percent of his passes for 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 185 yards over the course of 12 games.

We had him featured in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
