Titans Sign RB/KR Leon Washington

According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the Tennessee Titans plan on signing veteran RB/KR Leon Washington after he tried out for the team on Tuesday.

  • Wyatt adds that the Titans also worked out former Jaguars and Lions WR Mike Thomas on Tuesday as well.

The Titans appear to be looking for some help at the kick returner position after using Darius Reynaud and Damian Williams for most the of the season. Tennessee has used five different kick returners and four different punt returners so far in 2013.

Washington, 31, was cut three days ago by the Patriots after being active for just two games this season. Washington was a very effective returner for the Seahawks a few years ago, averaging 29 yards as kick returner and 8.7 yards on punts.

We’ll have an update when the deal is official.
