Titans & Ryan Tannehill On Verge Of Multi-Year Extension, Out On Tom Brady

Update:

Adam Schefter is now reporting that the Titans and Ryan Tannehill are now on the verge of a new multi-year extension that would prevent Tennessee from using its franchise tag on him.

The Titans could then franchise RB Derrick Henry instead if they’re able to get a deal done soon.

According to Dianna Russini, the Titans are working hard to get a deal done with QB Ryan Tannehill

Russini adds that Tennessee is not interested in joining the sweepstakes for Patriots QB Tom Brady. Instead, they are focusing on locking up Tannehill after his run with the team in 2019.

With the approval of the new CBA, the Titans have just one franchise tag to use between Tannehill and RB Derrick Henry, so getting Tannehill locked up would bode well for their chances of keeping both.

Tannehill, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2012. Miami traded Tannehill to the Titans this offseason for draft compensation.

As a part of the trade, Tannehill reworked his contract to a one-year, $1.875 million deal with the potential for more incentives. He’ll be a free agent following the 2019 season.

In 2019, Tannehill appeared in completed 70.3 percent of his passes for 2,742 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also rushed for 185 yards over the course of 12 games.

We have him featured in our Top 100 – 2020 Free Agents list.
