TRADE: Browns Trading CB Jamar Taylor To Cardinals For 2020 6th-Rd Pick

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Browns are finalizing a trade with the Cardinals that will send CB Jamar Taylor to Arizona.

  • Nate Ulrich reports that the Browns receive a 2020 sixth-round pick from the Cardinals in return for Taylor.
  • Kent Somers reports that Taylor agreed to reduce his 2018 compensation from $4.25 million to $3.5 million with the remaining $750,000 being pushed back to 2019.

According to Rapoport, the trade is expected to be in place after the 4 pm EST deadline on Friday, which means it won’t be officially posted by the NFL until next Monday.

The Browns had been shopping Taylor around the NFL the past few months and the Cardinals were clearly in the market for cornerback help, so this deal could be a win-win for the two teams.

Taylor, 27, is a former second-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2013. Miami traded Taylor and the No. 250 overall pick to the Browns back in 2016 for the No. 223 selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Taylor was in the final year of a four-year, $3.626 million contract when the Browns signed him to a three-year, $15 million contract. He stands to make base salaries of $4.25 million and $4.07 million over the final two years of the agreement.

In 2017, Taylor appeared in all 16 games for the Browns and recorded 62 tackles, a half sack, a forced fumble and 10 pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 71 cornerback out of 120 qualifying players.
