Veteran LB A.J. Hawk Retiring From NFL

Veteran LB A.J. Hawk tells Albert Breer of TheMMQB.com that he plans to file retirement paperwork at some point in the near future and call it a career.

Hawk, 32, is a former first-round pick of the Packers back in 2006. After nine years in Green Bay, Hawk signed two-year, $3.25 million contract with the Bengals last year and was set to make a base salary of $1.1 million for the 2016 season.

However, the Bengals elected to move on and released him in a move that cleared $1.4 million in available cap space. The Falcons signed him to a contract back in October but he lasted just a few weeks in Atlanta before he was cut loose.

Over the course of his 11 years in the NFL, Hawk recorded 306 tackles, 20 sacks, four forced fumbles, five recoveries, nine interceptions and 33 pass defenses for the Packers and Bengals.
