Vikings Re-Sign WR Laquon Treadwell & CB Marcus Sherels, Place WR Chad Beebe On IR

The Minnesota Vikings announced Tuesday that they’ve re-signed WR Laquon Treadwell and CB Marcus Sherels and placed WR Chad Beebe on injured reserve.

The Vikings also placed LB Devante Downs on waivers.

Treadwell was released by Minnesota coming out of the preseason this year, but injuries opened up a spot in the Vikings’ receiving corps.

The former first-round pick received some interest from the Lions and Bills but remained unsigned as a free agent.

Treadwell, 24, is a former first-round pick of the Vikings back in 2016. He was entering the final year of his four-year, $9,934,980 contract that included a signing bonus of $5,425,440.

The Vikings declined Treadwell’s fifth-year option back in April and later waived him after they were unable to find a trade partner.

In 2018, Treadwell appeared in 15 games for the Vikings, catching 35 passes for 302 yards (8.6 YPC) and one touchdown.

Sherels, 31, wound up signing on with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota back in 2010. He has played nine years of his NFL career in Minnesota and just finished out a one-year contract with Minnesota.

Sherels later signed on with the Saints, but was released coming out of the preseason.

In 2018, Sherels appeared in 12 games for the Vikings and totaled 276 punt return yards and 34 kick return yards.
