Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that Dolphins GM Chris Grier knew last year how badly Texans HC Bill O’Brien wanted LT Laremy Tunsil, so he continued to keep asking for more and more, knowing O’Brien might eventually give in to his asking price.
In the end, Miami walked away with two first-rounders, a second-rounder and OT Julie’n Davenport in the trade for Tunsil.
Jordan Reid reports that Louisville OT Mekhi Becton recently had FaceTime meetings with the Jets, Browns, Chargers, and Buccaneers this week.
Ralph Vacchiano wonders if it makes more sense for the team to draft an offensive tackle such as Georgia’s Andrew Thomas or Louisville’s Mekhi Becton, or if the team should go with a top receiver prospect such as Alabama’s Jerry Jeudyor Oklahoma’sCeeDee Lamb.
While Vacchiano believes wide receiver is the Jets’ biggest need at this point, he notes that if the team selects a tackle in round one, they may be able to circle back and draft a talented receiver in the second round such as Clemson’s Tee Higgins, Notre Dame’s Chase Claypool, Baylor’s Denzel Mims, USC’s Michael Pittman, or TCU’s Jalen Reagor.
