AFC Notes: Broncos, Colts, Dolphins, & Texans

Broncos

Mike Klis of 9 News Denver writes that it could take TE Vernon Davis a month to get comfortable in the Broncos’ offensive system.

“His head is probably swirling a little bit trying to kind of figure out where his locker is and where the meeting rooms are, but he’s been around,” Peyton Manning said of Davis. “We’re going to try to catch him up to speed in as short an amount of time as possible and put in him in a position to help us win some football games.”

Colts

  • Field Yates reports that the Colts have made LB Josh Martin the highest paid practice players in the NFL with a salary of $34,411.76 per week.
  • Yates notes that this is the same as if Martin was on the 53-man roster.

Dolphins

Texans

Texans owner Bob McNair disputed recent reports that HC Bill O’Brien and GM Rick Smith are in a power struggle and can’t work together.

“I don’t know where those reports came from,” McNair said, via the Houston Chronicle. “They’re totally inaccurate. There’s nothing to it. They work well together. If they disagree on something they come to me. They’ve never come to me.

“I don’t like to have these anonymous sources, people saying something and they don’t know what they’re talking about. That bothers me. I don’t like it.

“We’ve got a good organization. People work hard. They’re going to continue to work hard, and we’re going to get good results.”
