AFC Notes: Browns, Jets, Ravens

Browns

An AFC scout tells Mike Freeman that he believes it’s possible Tyrod Taylor could actually end up being the Browns’ starting quarterback for not just the 2018 season, but for the coming years as well.

Tyrod Taylor could keep Baker Mayfield on the bench for years,” the scout tells Freeman.

Freeman says that this isn’t because Mayfield isn’t talented, but more that Taylor is “far more talented than many people know.”

Jets

Jets CB Morris Claiborne tells Darryl Slater of NJ.com that his decision to re-sign with New York came down to him deciding to bet on himself for the 2018 season.

“I’d rather bet on myself than anything,” Claiborne said. “I feel good about it. I’ve just got to go out and play how I see it in my mind right now — me dominating. I’ve just got to go do that, and the rest will take care of itself.”

Claiborne believes he and Trumaine Johnson will make for a “pretty good” cornerback tandem in 2018.

“Especially with me on the other side, we’re going to be pretty good,” Claiborne said. “I feel like when you’ve got us two as corners, you can open up the defense a little bit more. You can blitz a little bit more, because I feel like you’ve got guys out there who can stand up and cover.

Ravens

Ravens WR Chris Moore, who showed some flashes last season, says he expects bigger things in 2018.

“I felt like I was getting in my groove, and I felt like I was getting very comfortable and just getting a feel for it, Moore said, via BaltimoreRavens.com. “So, I feel like bigger things will come next year.”

“Last year, halfway through the year, you really saw him take off and make some big plays for us down the stretch, and he got more consistent in his play last year,” Ravens WRs coach Bobby Engram added. “He’s just carried it over into this offseason, so I’m happy for Chris. He’s been working his butt off.
