AFC Notes: Chargers, Chiefs, Texans

Chargers

Chiefs

New Chiefs WR Kelvin Benjamin says he’s grasping the Chiefs’ playbook “real well.

“I think it’s pretty much just putting a package together for me, and me just learning that package right now,” Benjamin said, via the Kansas City Star. “You know, it’s so late in the season that we won’t have enough time for me to learn the whole playbook, so I’m just learning the packages that they’re giving me.”

  • The Kansas City Chiefs officially ruled out WR Sammy Watkins (foot) for Week 15 and list G Cam Erving (knee) as doubtful.
  • The Chiefs also have S Eric Berry (heel) and WR Tyreek Hill (heel, wrist) as questionable.
  • According to Adam Schefter, Hill will play, despite the questionable tag.
  • Schefter adds that Berry is expected to make his 2018 debut.

Texans

Texans WR Keke Coutee said he is still improving from his hamstring injury but has not suffered any setbacks.

Still getting better,” Coutee said, via Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle. “Trending upwards, so no setbacks. Just getting it right is all I’m focused on right now. It’s all about finding out what’s right and attacking and treating the problem.”

  • Regarding recently acquired WR Demaryius Thomas, Texans HC Bill O’Brien said he has a “good grasp” of the offense: “Yeah, we’ve been doing a lot with himNo doubt, he has a good grasp. We’ve run him on all different kinds of routes. We’ve done a lot of different things with him. So, yes, he does have a good grasp.” (Aaron Wilson)
