AFC Notes: Kevin Byard, DeMeco Ryans, Jets, Texans, Titans

Jets

  • The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt thinks it’s more likely than not that the Jets trade DE Carl Lawson as his role has been reduced.
  • He adds the Jets are probably stuck with veteran RB Dalvin Cook despite his role also shrinking, as his contract will be a tough sell for an acquiring team to take on.
  • Rosenblatt notes Jets CB Bryce Hall has played well enough to potentially garner some trade interest at the deadline, as he’s in the final year of his rookie deal.

Texans

  • Texans HC DeMeco Ryans on rookie quarterbacks C.J. Stroud and Bryce Young: “It was a good process in the draft evaluating both guys, Bryce and C.J. Both guys what you’ve seen both of them had a lot of experience It was clear to me that both of those guys were the top two quarterbacks coming into this draft.” (Aaron Wilson)

Titans

  • Titans HC Mike Vrabel on the team trading S Kevin Byard to the Eagles: “I want to thank Kevin for what he means to me personally and to this team. When I arrived, he helped carry a new message into the locker room and establish the mindset and work ethic we were trying to instill throughout the team. His play on the field speaks for itself. An intelligent and athletic player, he has led the secondary and helped us win a lot of games. Kevin and Clarke and the kids mean a great deal to me, and I wish them success in all that is in front of them.” (James Palmer)
