AFC West Notes: Chargers, Chiefs, Raiders

Daniel Popper of The Athletic takes a look at 10 impending free agents that the Chargers should either address or target in free agency including:

  • Sam Mellinger hears that the Chiefs believe DL Chris Jones will be okay for Sunday’s game.
  • Regarding Jones, Chiefs HC Andy Reid said he “tweaked his calf” and they held him out of practice today. (Herbie Teope)
  • Reid mentioned that TE Travis Kelce‘s injury is “more of a bruise than anything.” (Herbie Teope)
  • OUT for Sunday’s game: CB Morris Claiborne (not injury related, shoulder)
  • QUESTIONABLE for Sunday’s game: DT Chris Jones (calf), TE Travis Kelce (knee)

An NFL executive tells Matt Miller of B/R that he expects Raiders GM Mike Mayock to be more active in terms of draft trades this year.

“Last year, [Mike] Mayock was getting his feet wet, so they didn’t trade much. This year? I bet he starts working the board,” the executive said.
