Mike Garafolo of NFL Media is reporting that the Bears are closing in on an agreement with TE Dion Sims.

The Dolphins reportedly had interest in re-signing Sims, but their pending trade for Julius Thomas likely factored into his decision to move on.

Sims, 25, is a former fourth-round pick of the Dolphins back in 2013. He has played out his four-year, $2,627,552 contract and was an unrestricted free agent for the first time.

In 2016, Sims appeared in 14 games for the Dolphins and caught 26 passes for 256 yards receiving and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 38 tight end out of 63 qualifying players.
