Bengals Hosting TE Rob Housler For A Visit

Mike Jurecki reports that the Bengals are hosting free agent tight end Rob Housler for a visit on Thursday.

  • Jurecki reported yesterday that the Bengals had interest in Housler.
  • According to Jurecki, Housler would like to decide on his next by the end of the week.
  • Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun also reported that there is “mutual interest” between the Ravens and Housler.

The Bengals are likely to move on without Jermaine Gresham, which means they could use another tight end to compliment Tyler Eifert.

Housler previously visited with the Falcons a few weeks ago, but Atlanta ultimately elected to sign tight ends Tony Moeaki and Jacob Tamme to contracts.

Housler, 26, is a former third-round pick of the Cardinals who played out his rookie contract with the team.

Many expected him to be a break out player in recent years, but Bruce Arians has never utilized the tight end position all that much in his offense, which could be one of the reason why his production was limited last year.

In 2014, Housler appeared in 15 games and caught nine passes for 129 yards receiving for the Cardinals. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 48 tight end out of 67 qualifying players.
