Bills Starting Thad Lewis In Season Finale, E.J. Manuel Doubtful For Week 17

The Buffalo Bills HC Doug Marrone announced on Friday that Thad Lewis will be the team’s starting quarterback for Week 17’s game against the Patriots.

  • Marrone added that QB E.J. Manuel is doubtful to play this weekend.

There was some speculation Thursday night that Lewis would be given another start with Manuel still dealing with a knee sprain.

Last week, Lewis completed 15-of-25 passes for 193 yards, no touchdowns and an interception during their win over the Dolphins, so it’s not as though starting Lewis hurts their chances of winning all that much.

It makes sense for them to not push Manuel and his knee given that he is clearly their future quarterback.

His rookie season will most likely finish with 1,972 yards passing, 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions. Manuel also contributed 189 yards rushing and touchdowns in ten games for the Bills.
