Broncos Pick Up $1.8M Of Cap Room By Reworking CB Bryce Callahan’s Contract

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Broncos have restructured the contract of CB Bryce Callahan and in turn freed up $1.8 million of cap space this year.

Pelissero adds that Callahan is due $5 million in 2020 and can make another $2 million in playtime incentives.

Callahan was a notable free agent signing for the Broncos last year, but missed the 2019 season due to injury.

Callahan, 27, wound up signing on with the Bears as an undrafted free agent out of Rice back in 2015. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed him to the team’s practice squad before later being called up.

The Bears re-signed him on a one-year deal restricted deal in 2018 before allowing him to leave for Denver in free agency the following year.

In 2018, Callahan appeared in 13 games for the Bears and recorded 45 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 7 cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.
