The Cleveland Browns announced Wednesday that they’ve placed RB Kareem Hunt (groin) and RB Trayone Gray (calf) on the active/non-football injury list.
Both players will count against the team’s 90-man roster and can be activated at any time.
Hunt is suspended for the first eight games of the season for violating its personal conduct policy.
Hunt, 23, is a former third-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2017. He was in the second year of his four-year, $3.263-million contract and set to make base salaries of $555,000 and $645,000 over the next two years of the agreement when the Chiefs waived him in December.
The Browns elected to sign Hunt to a one-year contract last month worth over $1 million, not factoring in a suspension. Hunt will forfeit $303,529 of his $645,000 base salary with his eight-game suspension, with a chance to earn $200,000 in per-game roster bonuses upon return.
In 2018, Hunt has appeared in 11 games for the Chiefs and rushed for 824 yards on 181 carries (4.6 YPC) to go along with 26 receptions for 378 yards receiving and 14 total touchdowns.
