Buccaneers Sign Three To Practice Squad, Designate Two To Return From IR

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially signed WR Travis Jonson, TE Codey McElroy and LB Tegray Scales to their practice squad on Tuesday and designated WR John Hurst and G John Molchon to return from injured reserve.

Here’s the Buccaneers updated practice squad:

  1. G Zack Bailey
  2. DB D’Cota Dixon
  3. DB Javon Hagan
  4. DT Jeremiah Ledbetter
  5. G Nick Leverett
  6. DB Herb Miller
  7. WR Josh Pearson
  8. DE Benning Potoa’e
  9. QB Josh Rosen
  10. K Greg Joseph
  11. RB Kenjon Barner
  12. WR Isaac Whitney
  13. RB Aca’Cedric Ware
  14. WR Travis Jonson
  15. TE Codey McElroy
  16. LB Tegray Scales

This opens a three-week window of time for the Buccaneers to activate them from injured reserve and add them to their 53-man roster.

McElroy, 27, signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Southeastern Oklahoma State in 2018. He was waived coming out of the preseason and eventually signed on with the Cowboys last year.

Unfortunately, Dallas waived McElroy with an injury designation and he later signed on to the Buccaneers’ practice squad. He was once again waived at the start of the regular season.

McElroy played two seasons of MLB for the Atlanta Braves in 2014 and 2015, along with one season of basketball at Oklahoma State.  He joined the Southeastern Oklahoma State football team as a grad transfer.

In 2019, McElroy appeared in one game for the Buccaneers and caught one pass for one yard.
