Cardinals C A.Q. Shipley Out For Season With Torn ACL

Cardinals HC Steve Wilks announced Monday that starting C A.Q. Shipley suffered a torn ACL and will subsequently miss the entire 2018 season.

You can expect the Cardinals to place Shipley on injured reserve in the coming days and add someone to their roster.

The Cardinals are expected to give rookie Mason Cole an opportunity to replace Shipley in the starting lineup.

Shipley, 32, is a former seventh-round pick of the Steelers back in 2009. He lasted just over a year with the Steelers before playing for a few teams including the Eagles, Colts and Ravens.

The Cardinals signed him to a two-year contract in 2015 and brought him back on a  two-year, $3.5 million contract last year. He stands to make abase salary of $1.5 million for the 2018 season.

In 2017, Shipley appeared in all 16 games for the Cardinals and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 28 center out of 35 qualifying players.
