  • Jurecki adds that Ellington is still scheduled to meet with the a specialist this week in Philadelphia.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.

Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 is hearing that the Arizona Cardinals could consider the idea of shutting down RB Andre Ellington for the remainder of the season.

  • Jurecki adds that Ellington will likely see a specialist to determine the severity of his injuries.

Ellington is dealing with a hip pointer and a sports hernia that will hold him out of Week 14’s game. However, it appears as though his injuries are more serious than initially believed if the team is weighing whether or not to shut him down for the season.

The Cardinals have been hit by serious injuries this season on both sides of the ball. Losing Ellington for the season would be a serious blow to their chances of making the playoffs.

Arizona is likely to move forward with Stepfan Taylor, Marion Grice and Robert Hughes as their top-three running backs.

Ellington, 25, has ran for 660 yards on 201 carries (3.3 YPC) to go along with 46 receptions for 395 yards receiving and five total touchdowns.
